Clothing and weather
Arctic weather can be cold and change quickly. Arctic Pearl Explorer does not provide winter clothing or footwear. Guests are responsible for wearing suitable clothing for the conditions. We can direct guests to a local rental business where appropriate winter clothing may be rented. Clothing rental is provided by an independent third party and is not included in the tour price.

Request a tour
Choose a tour, date and available departure time, then submit your information. Your request is not confirmed immediately. We will review the request and contact you by email to approve it, decline it or suggest an alternative. Please do not make travel arrangements based on the request until you receive written confirmation from Arctic Pearl Explorer.

Local experiences in and around Tromsø
Arctic Pearl Explorer is a small tourism business based in Tromsø, Northern Norway. We help visitors experience the Northern Lights, Arctic fjords and the city’s famous sights and lesser-known hidden places. Our experiences are designed to offer personal guidance and a closer introduction to Tromsø and its surroundings.
All tours are currently conducted in English. Website information is also available in Korean, Simplified Chinese and Japanese.

Frequently asked questions
Are the Northern Lights guaranteed?
No. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and their visibility depends on weather conditions, cloud cover and aurora activity. We will use available forecasts and local conditions to choose a suitable route, but a sighting cannot be guaranteed. A tour that operates as planned is considered completed even if the Northern Lights are not visible.
What language are the tours conducted in?
All tours are currently conducted in English only. The website is available in English, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Japanese to make the information easier to understand, but the spoken guiding language during the tour is English.
Do you provide winter clothing?
No. Guests must bring or rent clothing suitable for Arctic weather. We can direct you to a local business that rents winter clothing. Rental clothing is supplied by an independent third party and is not included in the tour price.
Is submitting a booking request the same as confirming a booking?
No. After you select a tour, date and time and submit your information, your request will be reviewed by Arctic Pearl Explorer. Your booking is confirmed only after you receive written approval and complete any required payment.
Can I book if I am travelling alone?
Absolutely. Solo travellers are very welcome at Arctic Pearl Explorer and you can book a single seat. Our scheduled experiences require a minimum of 2 total participants to operate. Separate bookings for the same experience, date and departure time count together. If the minimum is not reached 24 hours before departure, we will offer you another available departure or a full refund.
What happens if Arctic Pearl Explorer cancels the tour?
If we cancel because the tour cannot operate safely, for another operational reason, or because the minimum of 2 total participants was not reached 24 hours before departure, you may choose another available departure at no extra charge or receive a full refund. No cancellation fee applies when we cancel the departure.
What happens if I cancel?
Our refund amount depends on when we receive your cancellation. Please read the Cancellation Policy before submitting your request.
Can I change my requested date?
You may contact us to request a different date. Changes are subject to availability and are not guaranteed.
What time do tours begin?
Northern Lights Chase departs at 21:00 and is expected to finish at approximately 01:00 the following day. Tromsø City & Hidden Spots Tour has two separate departure options, 17:30 and 21:00. Hidden Fjords Tour departs at 17:30. Only the dates and times activated by Arctic Pearl Explorer can be selected in the booking-request system.
Where is the meeting point?
Unless Arctic Pearl Explorer informs you otherwise in writing, the meeting point for all tours is Tromsø City Library and Archive, Grønnegata 94, 9008 Tromsø. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your confirmed departure time.
